1.Tulsi, Ginger & Honey Juice
Works very well for a runny nose and itchy throat. Only Tulsi and honey can be given during season change for immunity too because Tulsi has anti viral properties.
How to Make: Pound together 5-6 tulsi leaves, Ey a pinch of ginger. Strain out the juice. Add honey and drink it first thing in the morning.
Do not give honey to kids before 1 year of age!
2. Raw Sliced Onions
This has worked like magic for us in cases of blocked nose and congestion.
How to Use this? Wash and cut 1 onion into half and put it on the bedside on a plate before going to sleep.
In the morning the onion will be grayish in color.
Onion once cut has the property of absorbing all germs. That’s why people say avoid eating stale cut onions!
3. Ajwain Potli
This works very well for congestion and helps get better sleep.
How to Make this? Heat Ajwain on a pan till it releases a pleasant fragrance. Pinch a garlic clove with your fingers. Now tie these in a muslin cloth like a potli.
Use this warm potli to lightly press on the child’s chest. Rub with your hand so that it releases the smell and make them smell it to open a blocked nose too!
4. Ghee with Cloves
This works very well for an itchy throat!
How to Make this? Heat 1 teaspoon of ghee Add 2 cloves/laung in it. Let it heat for a minute put off the stove.
Make it fresh and consume it while it is warm. Have it in the morning and before going to bed. Make sure you do not have water after consuming this!
5. Mustard Oil with Ajwain & Garlic
This works very well to relieve blocked nose and congestion.
How to Make this?
Heat 1/2 cup mustard oil, Add crushed Ajwain/ Carom seeds and crushed Garlic cloves (1-2) Let it get cooked for 1-2 minutes. Strain and store in a bottle. Apply 1-2 drops at bed time and after bath on the chest, feet and neck. Make sure the child does not touch it as it can lead to burning sensation in eyes.
