While deciding between a play school or home-school it is good to take an informed decision.
Below are a list of advantages home-schooling has in store:
Flexibility:
Home-schooling gives you ample flexibility to choose a routine and curriculum that your child enjoys and is comfortable with. Both when and what is flexible.
Child Lead Learning:
Traditional schools follow “1 size fits all pattern”. However, while homeschooling you can let your child’s interests guide you.
Understanding Interests and Skills:
When you homeschool, you understand the child’s interest areas better and can work towards developing specific skills and areas of interest.
Example:- when you notice that your child loves coloring, you can give him more time to color and learn.
There are no limitations or syllabus:
You can go as fast or slow as per your child’s needs. When you home-school, you will notice that kids grasp things that interest them at a very fast pace. Hence, if you find something your child likes you can teach them a lot more.
I believe home-schooling kits or activity sheets should not dictate a “syllabus” that needs to be completed in a certain duration. It should rather be a tool from which you can allow children to choose what they want to learn.
Of course, if your child is already enrolled in a school where structured learning is being followed, one must try to cover the school syllabus.
Home-schooling can be daunting but mothers are naturally the first teacher of their child.
Keep flexibility and your child’s best interest in mind and it’ll fall in place.
