30 Healthy Breakfast Ideas – Kid Friendly & Quick

  1. Tomato Suji: In 1 tsp. ghee, add curry leaves and mustard seeds, add 1 table spoon suji and sauté for a minute, add 1 finely chopped tomato and continue to sauté. Add a glass of warm water while stirring and cook till you get the required consistency!
  2. Apple Oats: Peel, grate half an apple & boil. Roast oats for 1-2 minutes and add apple to the boiling oats. Add water & Cook till the oats are nice and soft. Add little cinnamon for flavour.
  3. Moong Dal Chilla: Wash & Soak Green Moong Dal and Yellow Moong Dal (1:1) overnight or for one hour. Strain the water and add little ginger, hing and little water and grind into a paste. Make a dosa (add any finely chopped vegetables while cooking it) and serve it with jaggery or chutney.
  4. Oats & Mix Vegetable Chilla: Soak oats and finely chopped vegetables in curd and add a little water if needed. Let is rest for minimum 30 minutes and make dosa.
  5. Raggi & Cucumber Chilla: Grate a cucumber, add ragi and curd and mix. The cucumber has a lot of water so only add water if you need to. Let is sit for 30 minutes and then make dosas and serve with jaggery and curd.
  6. Suji Idli: In 1 cup suji, add 1 cup curd, salt and let it sit for 30 minutes minimum. Add 1 pinch Eno/Soda and a few drops of lemon. Brush the Idli steamer will oil and pour little batter and steam.
  7. Suji Upma: Use any online recipe to make this.
  8. Appe: You can make them with Suji and curd or use dosa batter to make these. We add finely chopped vegetables and eat it with Coconut Chutney. You will find many quick recipes online.
  9. Peas, Potato Poha: We sauté finally chopped potatoes, add turmeric, ginger and salt. Then add pre soaked poha and mix. Add pre boiled peas on top. Add a few drops of lemon.
  10. Besan Lauki Chilla: Grate Lauki (Bottle Gourd) after peeling. Add Besan and a little suji to the lauki. Add ajwain, salt and ginger. Add water to get the consistency and cook it like dosa.
  11. Savai/Rice Vermicilli Upma: Lots of recipes available online. We make it like normal upma.
  12. Aloo Paratha:Use boiled potatoes, finely chopped onions, chopped coriander leaves and mash it together. Add spices – salt, pink salt, jeera powder, amchur and red chilli powder (skip chilli if you like). Mix it all to make your filling. Now knead the dough and make stuffed parathas in ghee or butter as you like! Serve with pickles or jaggery and curd.
  13. Cheese + Aloo Paratha: In boiled potatoes add grated cheese in equal proportion. Add only a pinch of salt and mix well. Your stuffing is reading. Use this to make stuffed parathas and serve with pickles and curd.
  14. Gobhi Paratha: Blanch finely chopped cauliflower and add chopped ginger, salt, pepper and green chillies in it. Make sure you squeeze out all the water from this stuffing before adding the spices. Now use this stuffing to make parathas.
  15. Onion Paratha: Chop onions and saute them well in butter/oil. Add a little salt and green chilli, red chilli powder and jeera and ajwain. Saute till onions are dark pink but all the water has tried. Remove off the heat and let it cool. Now use this as the stuffing.
  16. Paneer Paratha – Fresh Paneer with finely chopped onions and capsicum
  17. Cheese Sandwich – We use grated cheese but you can also do cheese slice!

  19. Hung Curd Sandwich – Hang curd in a muslin cloth for at least one hour, add finely chopped vegetables, salt, little sugar and use it like a spread. You can grill or cook on a pan with butter.
  20. Potato Sandwich: Add salt, pepper, onions, chaat masala to boiled potato. Use as stuffing and grill the sandwich.
  21. Paneer/Cottage Cheese Sandwich with finely chopped vegetables: In fresh cottage cheese/Cheena, add salt pepper, finely chopped opinion and capsicum. Mix the stuffing well and grill the sandwich.
  22. Grated Coconut & Curd Sandwich – In a little hot oil, add curry leaves, mustard seeds till they crackle. Turn off the heat and then add grated coconut and curd. Mix to form a thick paste. Use this as stuffing and then grill the bread and eat.
  23. Chutney/Pesto Sandwich: Staple in many homes, I like the twist of adding pesto instead of coriander chutney too.
